2016 will not only mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising it will also mark the centenary of our collective failure to realise its objectives. To this end the National 1916 Commemoration Committee view the build up to the centenary as an exercise specifically focused on highlighting this failure and to ensure that the revisionist objective of attempting to reconcile partition with the Proclamation will not prevail. Accordingly we see each intervening anniversary as a platform to reassert the republican and separatist credentials of the Easter Rising.
